Letha Spofford

Brewer - Letha B. Spofford, 84, died September 1, 2016, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 14, 1932, in Stonington, the daughter of Charles and Winifred (Shepard) Barbour. Letha graduated from Stonington High School, class of 1950. She was the organist at the RLDS church for 50 years, a task she started when she was just 9 years old. On November 8, 1952, she married the love of her life, Wayne Spofford. Together they raised their family. Letha worked for Maine Information Systems for 18 years. She loved to go camping at Bar Harbor Campground. She enjoyed knitting, coloring in the adult style coloring books, and playing the organ whenever she had an opportunity. Family was her life, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. In addition to her parents, Letha was predeceased by 2 daughters, Sally and Sherri. She is survived by Wayne, her husband of nearly 64 years; children Kerry Spofford and wife Pamela, Tamra Jamieson and husband Jerry, Barry Spofford and wife Cathi, and Donald Spofford and wife Faye; grandchildren Elissa McCall, Kimberly Lorenz, Renee Giguere, Julie Pace, Courtney Carter, Matthew Spofford, and Meghan Spofford; great grandchildren William, Molly, Kelsey, Caden, Waylon, Danielle, Clara, Prestyn, and Kaylob; 2 sisters, Joanne Wilson and Faye Faulkingham; former son-in-law Allen Doll; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs at Winterberry Heights and Eastern Maine Medical Center for their exceptional care of our Mom.
