Linda Parker

August 18, 1951 — September 14, 2022

Linda Diane (Richardson) Parker, 71, of Winterport passed peacefully at home in the arms of her family on September 14, 2022 after a long illness.

Linda was born on August 18, 1951 in Glenburn to Amos and Marion (Henderson) Richardson and graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1969. She met the love of her life, Darryl Parker, in 1973 and they married in 1974. They had two children together as well as raising three of her nieces after her sister’s death, and a stepson. She worked for years as a ward clerk at BMHI, later as a rural mail carrier with the US Postal Service for nearly two decades. A lifelong animal lover, she had a special passion for horses which she passed on to her daughter during many hours spent in the barn, at horse shows, and on long trail rides together. She loved to travel and spent several winters exploring the country with Darryl in their RV. She was an infinitely kind woman who would help anyone in any way she could and could enter a room full of strangers and leave it having made a dozen new friends.

She is survived by her husband, Darryl Parker of Winterport; daughter, Daralin Parker Beckett and beloved son-in-law Dr. Nathan Beckett of Exeter; stepson Daniel Parker of Old Town; grandchildren Aryanna and Jahsun; lifelong best friend, JoAnne McCann; nieces Christine, Karen and Rebecca, many siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Linda will also be missed by Bizzy, her treasured cockatiel.
She was predeceased by her son, Frederick Parker; parents, Amos and Marion Richardson; three sisters, a brother, and her much loved parents-in-law, Mildred and Alfred Gomm.

A memorial service will be held on October 9th, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm at The Hampden Goodwill Riders Snowmobile Club, 844 Western Ave, Hampden, ME. The family asks that those wishing to honor Linda’s life make gifts in her memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/) or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
