Liston Houston

December 25, 1926 — February 27, 2014

Liston M. Houston passed away at the age of 87 in Brewer, February 27, 2014. He was born December 25, 1926, the fourth child of Herbert L. and Gladys (Lane) Houston.
Liston married Rita Pauline Pullen February 27, 1948, with whom he shared the best ____ years of his life. He served in the United States Army and worked for Penobscot County Courthouse for 33 years. Liston was an active member of the Anah Shriners. After his family, the outdoors was his love.
Liston is survived by two sons, Brian Houston and his wife, Pamela and their children, Amanda and her husband, Ken, James, Sarah and her husband, Ethan, Katie, Noah and his partner, Kathleen and Todd and his partner, Sarah; Thomas Houston and his wife, Celeste and their children, JoAnne and her husband, Dave and Cassandra and her partner, Jay; daughter, Kathy Drew and her husband, Sam and their daughters, Samantha and Emily and her husband, Jake; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Evan, Margaret, Thomas, Andrew, Chloe, Willow, Liam, Nora, Ella, Mason, Brody, Stephanie and Isaac; brother-in-law Gordon; sisters-in-law Clarisa, Ethelyn, and Virginia; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Liston was predeceased by his brother, Roderick; sisters, Carmen and Shirley; daughter-in-law Margaret; and grandson, Scott; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodlands Assisted Living and the staff of Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care they provided.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 with the Rev. Kate Nicol officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Reception Rooms of the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith immediately following the service. Interment will be at North Brewer Cemetery in the spring.
