Lois Dunfee

April 29, 1940 — December 5, 2020

Lois E. Dunfee, 80, wife of Dalton Dunfee, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Lois passed away surrounded by her beloved family at her home in Corinth. She was born in East Madison, Maine on April 29, 1940, daughter of Harold and Eula Libby, Sr. Lois was a devoted wife, adored mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and an esteemed woman of strong faith and great love for the Lord. She chose to prioritize her time and energy by investing into her family. She poured herself into the lives of her children and grandchildren, always making an effort to spend individual time with each of them. She was never too busy to stop whatever she was doing, sit down at the kitchen table and listen to them, pray for them, and give precious words of wisdom to each one. A fastidious housekeeper, Lois loved to keep a beautiful home. Everything had its place and she worked hard to teach the family the value of staying organized. She did, however, occasionally make exceptions for the grandchildren. The basement was piled with boxes to build elaborate forts, and a gadget drawer filled to the brim with supplies to make anything their imagination allowed. One of her most well-known attributes was the ability to stretch a dollar. While she was generous to a fault, she received great pleasure in a Saturday yard sale or scoring a good deal at the Attic. For over 60 summers, Lois enjoyed making many wonderful memories at the camp on Boyd Lake. She gathered her family and friends to host reunions, go boating, and take walks down the camp road. She spent hours playing ‘Sorry’ with her grandkids, making ample amounts of Fluffernutter sandwiches and strawberry shortcake for everyone. There was nothing more important to her than instilling the need for God in your life. Her goal was to make certain her entire family and all that knew her were prepared for Heaven. Her most treasured book was her Bible. The inside was marked with notes, prayer requests and underlined scriptures. It held a cachet of treasured drawings the young grandchildren made for her while sitting together at church. She was an active member of Charleston Church since she was a teenager. Over the years, she enjoyed singing with the Gospel Melodies and working in the nursery and women’s ministry. Most recently, she was active in the hospitality ministry, welcoming newcomers and church family alike at the Welcome Center. Lois was not only loved and adored by her family, but by hundreds of others. Her selflessness and ability to devote herself to the people around her will always be remembered. Lois was not just a wonderful mother to her own children, but a spiritual mother to many. Her quiet demeanor, wisdom and stability impacted countless people over the years. She demonstrated a unique ability to love everyone around her and to show others how to love. Lois is survived by her dearest husband, Dalton, of 62 years. She will be forever remembered and held close in the hearts of her three sons, Mark and his wife, Debbie, Paul and his wife, Cathy, and David and his wife, Jaimie. She will always be Mamie to her 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Ben and Gabriella, Candy, Billie-Jo and Jose, Markie, Brent and Tabitha, Heather and Tyler, Annabelle, Eli, Lucas and Simon and her 12 great-grandchildren. She loved the many nieces and nephews that called her Auntie. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Joyce Kimball, and 3 brothers, Harold, Jr., Alan, and Ronald Libby. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 9 from 3-7 pm at Charleston Church. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks will be required and 50 people will be allowed in the building at a time. We will rotate through in order to accommodate everyone. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 10 at 1 pm for family only. We will livestream the entire service at www.facebook.com/cchurch11a Those who wish to leave written condolences may do so at BrookingSmith.com.
