Lois M. (Lincoln) Strout, 89, died peacefully December 30, 2022 at the Maine Veterans Home while surrounded by the love of her children. She was born March 2, 1933 in Milo, ME the daughter of Leslie P. SR. and Lula (Hichborn) Lincoln.
Lois grew up in Lagrange with her twelve brothers and sisters. Her ability to care for others and establish a loving home started early. She graduated proudly from Lagrange High School. She met Paul R. Strout and they married May 14, 1955. They shared 59 years of marriage before he passed in 2015.
Known to many as ‘Gug’ or ‘Gugga’, she achieved success as a loving, nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. All could find comfort and warmth from her smile, her beautiful blue eyes and welcoming arms. Many still treasure her hand knit wool mittens.
She was a woman of faith. As a member of the Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church, she served as Sunday school teacher and volunteered at vacation bible school. Her faith and strength were unwavering as she not once, but twice survived battles with cancer.
Family was everything to Lois. She could fill your heart with love, your soul with hope, and tummies with family favorite recipes. It was a joy for her to see her recipes passing to second, third and fourth generations.
In addition to her parents Leslie and Lula Lincoln she was predeceased by siblings Charles Lincoln, Irma Ellis, Blanche Barnes, Isabelle Weston, Alice Dolley, Caroline Reed, Gerald Lincoln and Leslie Lincoln Jr..
Surviving are her son, Brian P. Strout and wife Lori of Bangor; daughters, Julie Lebowitz and husband Murray of Lamoine, Paula Benoit and husband Joe of Old Town, Janice Wagner and husband Doug of Bangor; son Ronnie M. Strout and wife Karen of Townsend, GA.
