Loretta A. Economy, 93, passed away peacefully October 9, 2019. She was born October 22, 1925 to Elia and Angelina Kotelly in South Boston, Massachusetts where she grew up in a family surrounded by love and hope. The inspirations of her upbringing became her personal mantra and she passed them along to her family and all who met her.
After graduating from Boston University, Loretta worked in forensics for the City of Boston until she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Economy whom she married in 1953 before making her home in Maine. Her kind words, prayers and inspirations of hope will be missed by all who knew her and she can take solace in knowing that we will all carry on this family tradition of inspiring others.
Loretta was predeceased by her husband, Dick; brothers, Anthony and Arthur Kotelly; daughter-in-law, Karen Economy and great-grandchildren Mason and Marshall Hatch.
Loretta is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Potvin and her husband, Bill; sons, Richard Economy and his fiancée, Margaret Arey, Robert Economy his wife Lisa, James Economy and his wife, Mary; grandchildren, Max Potvin, Erin Hatch and her husband, Scott, Lauren Economy and her fiancé Chris Baker, Jacob Economy, Andrea Connolly and her husband, Kevin, Evan Economy, Natasha Eldridge and her husband, Adam; great-grandchildren, Maddox and Madilyn Hatch, Landon Economy and Samuel and Isabelle Eldridge; brother and sister-in-law, Richard Kotelly and his wife, Jane, sister-in-law Mary Kotelly, “Blood Brother” George Kotelly and his wife, Shirley. She is also survived by many special relatives and dear friends.
A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer. Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 10 AM until time of service, Thursday. The Rite of Committal will be private for the family.
