Loretta Hughes

Bangor - Loretta Ellen (Russell) Hughes, 85, of Bangor, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024. Loretta was best known for her unique sense of humor, wonderful home cooked meals, and endless generosity. She was born in Bangor, Maine, to Frederick and Dawn (Martin) Russell.
She is survived by her brothers, Whitfield Russell and wife, Ellen, and Frederick Russell and wife, Susan; her children, Michael Hughes and wife, Michele, Ellen Cox and husband, Charles, Mary Jackson and husband, Steven, Thomas Hughes and fiancée, Emily Worden; son-in-law, John D'Errico; her grandchildren: Mary Alice, Rachel, Zachary, Jacob, Isaac, and Emma Hughes, Elijah Hughes and wife, Michelle, Billy Cox and wife, Kaitlyn; Katie Sino, Rose Doerfler and husband, Jacob, Erin Jackson and husband, Jason, and Melanie Willy and husband, Steven; and her great-grandchildren, Owen, Clara, Asher, William, Henry, Marcy, Maisie, Russell, Kaylin, Ella, Harper, and Riley; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William T. Hughes Jr.; sons, Patrick and William Hughes; daughter, Dawn D'Errico; and sisters, Marie Wiswell and Jackie (Morse) Augherton.
Loretta lived in Clearwater, Florida, for 25 years and returned to Bangor, in her later years to be closer to family. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Eastside Rehab for their wonderful care.
