Lorraine M. Smith, 88, passed away September 30, 2019, at Ross Manor in Bangor. She was born July 5, 1931, on Beals Island, the daughter of Ernest and Anne Marie Legere.
Lorraine was a graduate of Bangor High School in the Class of 1949. Upon graduation, she lived and worked in the Bangor area. Her varied forms of employment included the S & H Green Stamp Store, The Singer Sewing Company, Rice’s (Jordan Meats), and Sylvia’s Shop in Brewer. In later years she became a caregiver for the elderly.
Lorraine was a caring and fun loving person. She especially enjoyed her time socializing with her many friends. Camping was always her preferred past time. And of course there was always time for “just a little shopping”.
Surviving is her son Michael Black and wife Joyce of Winslow; granddaughter, Alicia Heckman and husband Brendan of Scarborough; also several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest Legere Jr. and Robert Legere; a sister, Marcella Harris; and her good friend in later years, Bernie Quinn. A special thanks to the staff at Ross Manor for their care and support over the last four years.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor, following the service. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
