Bangor - Louise Marie Banville, 74, passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2024. She was born September 6, 1950, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to the late Bernard and Marie (Verville) Dion.
Louise grew up in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, moving to Maine in 1980, where she decided to go back to school for nursing, attending then E.M.V.T.I. for her LPN degree, then pursuing a B.S. in nursing from Husson College in 1999. She worked for St. Joseph Hospital and later Eastern Maine Medical Center. She also served as adjunct faculty at Husson University College, further proving her dedication to her field.
Her hard work and dedication led to her receiving the esteemed Daisy Award for excellence in nursing in 2018, earning her a place in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Omicron XI-At-large Chapter.
Some of Louise's great accomplishments include her son, Paul, buying her home in 1998 and becoming a nurse.
When not working or spending time with family, Louise enjoyed being outdoors, especially at a lake or Schoodic Point. She was fond of bingo and Skeeball at the fair every summer. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, golfing, and cross-stitching, and making the little towels we've all received. As a Red Sox fan, Louise also loved cheering on her team and witnessing their historic 2004 WS win, as did we all!
Louise's precious memories will be cherished by her son, Paul Banville and his wife, Darcy, and her son, Kurtis Norweg, of Corinth; and her sisters, Pauline and Michele Dion, of Bangor. She will be remembered fondly by her niece, Lisa LeDuc and her husband, Jason, their children, William, Lucas, Alex, Levi, and Eliza LeDuc, of Greene; niece, Jennifer Brannon of Readfield, along with her son, Eric Brannon, of Bremerton, Washington; by her aunt, Jeannine Moss of Swansea, Massachusetts; along with many cousins. In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her sisters, Jeanne Lucas and Denise Dion. She will be greatly missed by her friends, including her closest friend, Sandy Corey, who gave so much to Louise and her family these past few months; her confidant, Cathy Steeves; Sandy's husband, Lee Stitchfield; "son," Scott Baxter; and so many other friends, you know who you are. She also leaves behind her dog, Jesse, who greatly misses her. A special thank you to all at Beacon Hospice. Your dedication and kindness made this easier to bare.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, 217 York St., Bangor, immediately followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt.
