Lucy M. Macomber

Brewer – Lucy Macomber, 93, passed away July 19, 2021 at a local hospital. She was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, January 9, 1928, the daughter of Avis (Katen) Wells and Harry Wells Sr. Lucy was brought up by her grandparents, Charles and Lucy Katen in Milo, where she attended local schools. She loved helping people, attending church and many other activities. Lucy loved animals, especially Beagle dogs and cats. Lucy was a devoted member of the Second Congregational Church of Brewer, and Tops in Orrington. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, Blaine Macomber. She is survived by her three children, Jerry and his wife, Faye, of Old Town, Dennis and his wife, Beth, of Winston-Salem N.C., and daughter, Jo-Ann Macomber Mckenny; six grandchildren, Carrie Grimes and husband, Steven, Lance Macomber, Todd Knight and fiancée, Kimberlee Candib, Matthew Knight, Ryan Mckenny and wife, Caci, and Daniel Macomber, U.S. Navy; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harry Wells, of Bangor, Charles Wells, of Parkman, Wendell and his wife, Georgia, of Winterport; three sisters, Rose Hahn, Myrtle Furbush, and Mary Dempsey; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Lucy’s special friend, Connie Lackady, for all that she did to care for Lucy. Also, special thanks to Wendell and Georgina Wells. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Relatives and friends are welcome to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, immediately following the service. Interment will be private for family.
