Lucy Ella Tripp

July 8, 1934 — January 9, 2025

Bangor

Lucy Ella Tripp, 90, peacefully passed away on January 9, 2025, at her home in Bangor, surrounded by the family and friends she loved dearly. She was born on July 8, 1934, in Blue Hill, the daughter of Bernard J. Carter and Phyllis Grindle/Carter.

Lucy graduated from Bingham High School in the Class of 1953. On March 20, 1960, she married Calvin Edward Tripp Sr., and the couple made their home in Bangor, where they raised their family and operated their business, Tripp’s Air Transfer, until retirement. Lucy was a woman of many interests and talents. Above all, she cherished her time spent with family. Whether she was gathering with loved ones or creating special memories, Lucy knew how to enjoy life’s moments. She was known for her love of dancing, often going out with friends to dance the night away. Lucy also took long walks around Bangor, appreciating the beauty of the area she called home. At her house, she could often be found crocheting, knitting, or sewing, creating gifts like hats and blankets for her grandchildren—gifts made with love and care.

Lucy was especially famous for her homemade pies. Her apple pies, in particular, were a holiday tradition, and many family members will remember her warm kitchen filled with the scent of freshly baked goods.

Lucy’s life was also marked by her strong sense of family, warmth, and loyalty to her friends. She was the kind of person who made those around her feel special and valued. Whether spending time with her children, doting on her grandchildren, or sharing stories with friends, Lucy’s heart was always open. Her kindness and generosity were felt by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 36 years, Calvin Edward Tripp Sr.; her brothers, Bernard Jr., Robert, Donald, and John Carter; her grandson, Tyler Babcock, who was a bright light in her life and whom she missed dearly; and her little buddy, Buster.

She is survived by her sister, Merna, and her husband Jack Haynes. Lucy is also survived by her children, Debra Tripp, Crystal and her husband, Brett Gray, Calvin Jr. and his wife, Tracey Tripp, Robby Babcock, Roxanne and her husband, Alan Hodgkins, George Quimby, and Davina Denno. She was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren, Eli Fowler, Allen Zeigler, Daniel Tripp, Lucy Porter, Jessica and her husband, Adam Perkins, Eric and his wife, Melodie Tripp, Joshua Tripp, Ashley Babcock, Dylan Gray, Jake Gray, Kyle Hodgkins, Chase Hodgkins, Brandon Babcock, and Anna Gray. Her legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren, Shelby Fowler, Clara Porter, Alayna Porter, Elsa Perkins, Adelaide Perkins, Sabrina Everleth, Jaxson Tripp, Abel Tripp, Amia Tripp, Brielle Farren, Sierra Farren, Trysten Roy, and Mackenzie Fitts.

Lucy’s family is very grateful for the many cherished friends she made throughout her life. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support touched the hearts of everyone she encountered, and she leaves behind a legacy of genuine connection and love. Her generous spirit will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
