Lynda (Martin) Rohman
Bangor

On June 12, 2021, just shy of her sixty-third birthday, Lyndy Rohman died peacefully at home. She spent three and a half years courageously and gracefully confronting ovarian cancer. Lyndy will be remembered in the community as a connector, energizer and advocate who dedicated her career to service. A graduate of the University of Maine, she later earned a Master’s in business administration from Husson University. After leading the volunteer program at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Lyn inspired hundreds of people to contribute to the University of Maine, Acadia Hospital and most recently Husson University. Outside her career, she poured her energy into the American Folk Festival, the Bangor Land Trust, Penobscot Theatre, Husson Women’s Philanthropy Council, and Citizens Climate Lobby.

Lyndy’s generosity of time originated in her deep and abundant love of the world. Throughout her life, she appreciated and cultivated the many simple pleasures in life, from wildflowers to the artistry of her own lush gardens, from foreign travel to watching the birds at her backyard feeders. A fearless adventurer always up for fun and a challenge, she met her husband John through bicycling, rode horses, hiked Maine’s 100-Mile Wilderness with her sister Connie, ran marathons, and taught yoga. Creative and detail-oriented, she sewed all of her niece Amelia’s and nephew Eliot’s Halloween costumes and even her own wedding dress. She multiplied her joy by sharing extravagantly and from the heart. She relished nothing better than to host a party, which she and John did often in their renovated barns on Broadway and in Stonington, complete with live music. Right up until the week she died, she often spent days planning and preparing exquisite meals for those she loved.

Lyn had an abiding curiosity about the nature of life and a belief that love is available to all of us. She was a spiritual seeker who studied Buddhism and yogic philosophy. Daily practice led her to look fearlessly into her own heart and mind, so that she might become even more kind, loving and open.

Lyndy will be dearly missed by her husband, John Rohman; mother Beth Martin; sisters Connie Potvin and husband Paul, Nicole Caruso and husband Warren, Becky Martin, and Mike McLellan and husband Jim; nieces and nephews Amelia Lynn Donahey and her husband James, Eliot Potvin and his sons Linus and Otto, Nate Caruso, Luke Caruso, Betsy Repper, and Molly McLellan; daughter-in-law Amy Muhlfeld and her husband Clint and children, Maddy and Jack; son-in-law Erik Rohman and wife Kate; and John’s eleven siblings, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
Lyn was predeceased by her dad, Frederick H. Martin.
