BANGOR - TSgt Malcolm D. Merchant, 87, passed away on December 3, 2021, at his home. He was born on February 5, 1934, in Somesville the son of Eugene and Lena (Leland) Merchant.
Malcolm served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine technician throughout his entire working life. He entered in 1953 and went to B-29 A & E School in Texas. After serving in many other locations, he returned to Maine and retired from the 101st Air Refueling Wing, known as the Mainiacs, in Bangor.
He commonly said that he enjoyed life and helping others.
He is survived by two sisters, Valerie Kelley and Carol Beal and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Donald and Richard Merchant; and sisters, Jean Gray and Eleanor Renault.
