Marcia Ann Parsons, 69, passed away March 20, 2023, at her residence in Bangor with her loving sister at her side. She was born June 9, 1953, in Bangor, the daughter of Donald and Joanna (Mullins) Parsons.
Marcia attended Hampden schools and graduated from Hampden Academy in the Class of 1971. She continued her education and earned her RN degree in nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor and at the Bridgton Hospital in Bridgton, Maine. During her 43 year career, she loved her work in cardiology, medical surgery, and was a dedicated advocate for her patients. At the Bridgton Hospital, she continued her RN career as a floor nurse, and was later appointed as the Director of Employee Health, the Director of Infection and Quality Control, and was the developer and director of the AIDS Task Force. Due to health complications, she completed her 35 year medical career at Bridgton Hospital as a medical coder.
Marcia was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bridgton where she actively served on numerous committees. She endured many years of health challenges, yet remained gracious, joy filled, and determined. Her courage and faith in God was an inspiration to us all.
She is survived by her step-children Gary Elliott and Kimberly Elliott; her brother, David Parsons, and wife Pam; her twin sister, Mary Kilbride and husband Ernie. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends at Volunteers of America at Millers Square. Marcia’s family would like to thank the staff of Northern Light Hospice for their compassionate care of Marcia at the end of her life.
Per Marcia’s wishes, a spring graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Dixmont Corner Cemetery in Dixmont. Gifts may be made in remembrance of Marcia’s compassion and caring to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
