Margaret Curry

Stetson - Margaret G. (Charters) Curry, 83, passed away at a Bangor hospital on March 18, 2025. She was born in Levant, Maine on May 21, 1941, the daughter of Ralph and Carmon Charters.

Peggy graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1959 and went on to attend college at UMPI Teacher's College, graduating with a degree in Education in 1963. She taught in several local school districts for 25 years until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed when many years later a former student would recognize her and share a memory with her of when she taught them.

Peggy married Harry "Bub" Curry, the love of her life, on February 20, 1971, and built their home in Stetson, where they lived for 54 years. They traveled to many places over the years but their favorite place to visit was Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where they wintered for a few years.

She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and hosted many celebrations, which she looked forward to and spent much time planning and preparing for. The Fourth of July pool parties, Thanksgiving dinners, and Black Friday shopping with her family will be remembered fondly by many.

Peggy is survived by her three sons and their wives; Kevin and Traci Merrill, Kevin and Teresa Curry, and Jason and Michele Curry; her grandchildren, Ben and Kallie Merrill, Joshua Merrill, Tara Curry, Sydney and Wyatt Campbell, Casey and Logan Cutright, Cameron and Rachel Boyles; great-grandchildren; Josie and Quinn Merrill, Rowan Campbell, and Riley Cutright. She is also survived by her siblings; Tammy Hodgdon, Trever Charters, and Kirk and Annie Charters, and sister-in-law, Linda Nickerson, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 11:00-1:00 pm at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
