Margaret (Shoplock) Leistensnider, 84, died unexpectedly February 3, 2025, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in June 1941, in Somerville, NJ, the daughter of Samuel and Julia (Esock) Shoplock.
Margaret graduated from Somerville High School, New Jersey, class of 1958. She enrolled at Douglas College and graduated in 1963, when she married her high school prom date, James Leistensnider. They had four children and celebrated 61 years of marriage in June. They lived in Germany for a year, and then in New Jersey and New York until 2013, when they moved to Brewer to be close to their youngest child and her family. Margaret enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking, and caring for her children, grandchildren, and nephew. She will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her younger sister, Nancy Brunnengraber and her husband, Bill; her son, James Leistensnider and his sons, JP, Scott, and Andrew; her son, Paul Leistensnider and his wife, Beth, and their son, Clay; her son, David Leistensnider and his wife, Beth, and their children, Annika and Matthew; her daughter, Ann Bryant and her husband, Jim, and their children, Conrad and Didi; her nephew, Andrew, whom she and James cared for as a son; and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her older sister, Jean.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 9-10am Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main St., Brewer, where a Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 10am, followed by a Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
