Margaret Lowell

September 24, 1929 — December 20, 2016

BUCKSPORT – Margaret Webb Lowell, 87, went to be with the Lord December 20, 2016, with her loving family by her side. She was born September 24, 1929, the daughter of Abel and Georgia (Ronco) Webb.

Margaret graduated from MCI in Pittsfield, Class of 1947. Following graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Durward Emery. Margaret was a homemaker while her children were growing up, and then worked as a secretary for the Hermon Elementary school system. Margaret later worked for the Maine DHHS until her retirement. She was a devoted member of the Bangor Church of the Nazarene where she played the organ, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. Her greatest enjoyment came from doing things for other people. Margaret enjoyed gardening and doing projects at home, staying very active up until the day she passed. After the passing of her first husband, Durward, she was blessed to find love in a second marriage to Vaughn Lowell in 2005. Together, they shared every winter in Florida, where they had a large circle of friends and participated in many activities in the park where they lived. Margaret was a kind, generous, energetic, and loving individual who treasured time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is predeceased by her first husband, Durward Emery, and several siblings. She is survived by her husband Vaughn; daughter, Patti Emery; son, Mark Emery and daughter-in-law, Rebecca; grandson, Chris Emery, his wife Ashley, and his mother, Jo-Ann Emery; great-grandchildren Collin, Connor, and Colby, who affectionately call Margaret "Blueberry Nanny; and sister Jeanette Fitts. With Margaret’s marriage to Vaughn, her family grew to include sons, Daniel Lowell and wife Carol, David Lowell and wife Louise; daughter, Deborah Norotsky and husband Mitchell; as well as several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Bangor Church of the Nazarene, 1465 Union Street, Bangor, with Pastor Mark Stanford, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the church hall immediately following the service. Burial will be announced in the spring. Those who wish to remember Margaret in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Bangor Church of the Nazarene, PO Box 8446, Bangor ME 04402.
