HOLDEN AND SEARSPORT – Marian Inez Carter, 71, died Dec. 8, 2014 at her home in Searsport. She was born Jan. 18, 1943 in Bangor, daughter of Otis A. and Mary Elizabeth (Tuck) Carter.
Marian grew up on the family farm in Holden and attended the one room school house in Holden. She was a graduate of Brewer High School, class of 1962 and enjoyed attending her class reunions. She was a member of the Holden Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school and the Holden Grange. Marian enjoyed taking long walks, visiting with friends at Miller’s General Store.
Surviving are one brother, Elmer E. Carter of Holden; two nieces, Annette Marie Plaumann and her husband, Doug of Holden, Anita Ann Madden and her fiancé Glen J. Carter of Dedham; two nephews, Andrew E. Carter and his girlfriend, Vicki L. Churchill of Dedham, John E. Clukey and his wife, Tricia of Bangor; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a special cousin and longtime friend, Donna Hall of Holden’; also friend Charlie Adams. Marian was predeceased by her parents and a sister-in-law, Bonita “Bonnie” Carter. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of the Bayview Manor, Searsport for their care and support of Marian.
A funeral service will be held 2pm Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer with Linette George, pastor of the Holden Congregational Church, officiating. Friends may call from 1pm until time of service Friday. Spring interment will be in the family lot at Harts Corner Cemetery, Holden.
