Our family matriarch, beloved mother, cherished grandmother, fun loving great grandmother and great great grandmother, left this earth May 17, 2019, to enter heaven’s gates with many loved ones surrounding her and many waiting to welcome her to our forever home. She was born in Chester, February 16, 1926 the daughter of Vernal and Pauline (Libby) Hamlin.
Marice graduated from Bradford High School and married Durward Arnold on September 24, 1945. They operated the Arnold dairy farm in Bradford. After losing her husband in 1965, she continued operating the farm with her son Gary.
Marice also had various other jobs including school bus driver, H & R Block and Penquis Cap. Then she began her career with the US Postal Service where she was a rural carrier then became Postmaster in Hudson until her retirement at the age of 74.
Marice kept family as the priority in her life, having many family gatherings at her home, and her camp on Boyd Lake. As the family multiplied we had many gatherings at the Bradford Community Center. She enjoyed fishing, bingo and gardening. She also enjoyed planting a very large garden which she loved to share with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Durward, three precious grandsons, Trever Trafton, Durward Arnold and Brandon Washburn, a son-in-law, Arthur Libby and several special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Her loving surviving family includes five children and their spouses Gary and Nancy (Bean) Arnold, Theolyn and Peter Staples, Janet Libby, Paulette and Harold Trafton, Durice and Mark Washburn; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Theisa, Missy, Jennifer and Gavin, Alicia and Mark, Alana and Tony, Shelly and Darren, Tabitha, Justin and Beth, Allison and Scott, Alyssa and Nick, Kassie, Brooke and Levi and Michelle; 29 great grandchildren and their spouses, Aaron and Ashley, Jenessa and Paul, Libby, Dakota, Devon, Lilly, Abby, Dylan, Alex, Tyler, Jared, Kamryn, Will, Brody, Kiera, Mason, Gabriella, Garrett, James, Lane, Wyatt, Ben, Charlotte, Whitney, Atty, Reese, Audrey, Eli and Jaxon; 5 great-great grandchildren, Kaelyn, Laylah, Everal, Paisley and Teagan; a brother-in-law, Earland and wife Janette Arnold, two sisters-in-law, Hilda Chase and Helen Brasslett.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 6 to 8 pm. Wednesday May 22, 2019 at the Charleston Church, 185 Main Rd. Charleston, where a funeral service will be held 2 pm. Thursday. Interment will be in the Mills Cemetery, Bradford.
