BANGOR – Marie J. Harrington, 84, went to meet her husband, Thomas J. Harrington, July 4, 2016. She was born July 28, 1931, in Metz, Lorraine, France, daughter of George Guillaume and Jeanne Emma (Beringer) Franz.
Marie was a graduate of the University of Maine with a BS degree and was able to speak 5 languages. She worked in the Fanny Farmer Candy Store and the CVS Airport Mall Store. Marie will be remembered for her love of family and was an avid reader at the Bangor Public Library. She was a member of the New Renaissance Singers group for 25 years and was a strong, independent lady.
Marie is survived by three children, Marie H. Reeks and her husband, Donald, Thomas M. Harrington and Patrick M. Harrington and his longtime girlfriend, Patti Poland; two loving grandchildren she helped raised, Kathleen Greenhow and her husband, Greg and Andrew Reeks and his wife, Tianna; two great-grandchildren, Kodiak and Olivia. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Gleason, Ms. Lisa Bouchard, her children, the neighbors of Walter Street and New Renaissance Singers.
A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held 1:30pm Friday, July, 8, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1pm until time of service Friday. Those who wish to remember Marie in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the New Renaissance Singers.
