Marie D. (Violette) Leen, 82 of Brewer, formerly of Bangor passed away peacefully in the loving care of Brewer Center for Health & Rehabilitation on Monday, December 19, 2022 with her daughter and grandson by her side.
Marie was born in Bucksport, ME on November 14, 1940, the daughter of Lewis and Bertha (Webster) Violette.
She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Peggy Gray with who she lived; three grandchildren Jason Lubitz , Steven Lubitz, and Matthew Pardy; four great grandchildren; her siblings Robert and Lois of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Edward Smart, a grandson James Lubitz, a sister Marilyn Shaw and a special aunt Louise Jordan.
“Nana” as she was called was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life including spending time with family, especially with her beloved grandchildren, cooking, baking and crafts. She truly believed that faith, family, and friends were the most important parts and had room in her heart for everyone she met. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.
Funeral Services will be held privately. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery with an announcement at a later date.
