Marilyn (Clark) Ballard, 77, died at her home, January 5, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Winterport, October 19, 1938, the daughter of Wilbert and Annie (Ide) Clark. Marilyn graduated from Hampden Academy in 1957. Soon afterwards, she married Maynard Ballard and together they settled in Hampden. Marilyn worked in retail in Bangor at The Boston Store and later The Surplus Store until her retirement.
Marilyn was an active person with many friends and family. She was a member of the Hampden Garden Club, as well as the Clown Unit of the Anah Shriner’s, with her husband, Maynard “Bummer”. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband in 2007; and her brothers, David and Traverse Clark.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Woodward and her partner, Clint Black of Plymouth, Teresa Pipes and her husband, Ray of Hermon, and Kristina Ballard of Bangor; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held 11 am, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Hampden Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with Rev. Grace Bartlett of First Congregational Church of Brewer, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share in conversation and refreshments at the Reception Rooms of the Hampden Chapel, immediately following the service.
