Marilyn Fogg, 87, wife for 57 years to the late Orin Delmar Fogg, passed away April 12, 2021 with her children at her side. She was born in Passadumkeag, August 4, 1933 the daughter of Lacey H. and Hazel (Hatch) Dudley.
Marilyn was a graduate of Howland High School. She received a BA in history from the University of Maine at Orono in 1956 and an M.Ed. in 1966.
She began her teaching career in Lincoln, having taught civics, government and English. She then taught English in Hampden before establishing the first kindergarten class in Bradley. She retired from the Brewer School department after 38 years where she taught kindergarten and first grades in the Washington and Capri Street Schools. She was a Girl Scout leader in Brewer for many years.
Marilyn had a life-long interest in civic affairs and politics, volunteering on several state political campaigns after her retirement. She also enjoyed attending political rallies well into her 80s.
Marilyn was a member of the Milwee Chapter #198 OES, Orrington. She attended both the Orrington United Methodist Church and East Orrington Congregational Church where she was a member of the Orrington Ladies Aide Society. With her dear friends from the Ladies Aide, she was actively involved in projects such as Operation Christmas Child and the church fairs.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Hanscom and her husband Alan of Andover, NH; a son, Gary Fogg and his fiancé Jennifer Anderson of Eddington; three grandchildren, Megan Hanscom of Huntingtown, MD, Erin Hanscom of Andover, NH, and Alexander Fogg of Bucksport; a brother Leland “Bud” Dudley of Brooksville, FL; a sister, Arlene Parker of Passadumkeag; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Friday, April 30, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the Superintendents Lodge, State Street entrance at 10:45 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the local Operation Christmas Child packing fund and made out to: EOCC Mission Board, East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, Maine 04474. Please mark the check Operation Christmas Child in honor of Marilyn.
