Marilyn Kenney

November 1, 1930 — February 17, 2024

Marilyn “Polly” G. Kenney, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, February 17, 2024. She was born November 1, 1930 in Framingham, MA, to Arthur J. Tucker and Elva J. (Johnson) Tucker.

Polly lived in Brewer most of her life and graduated from Brewer High School in 1949. She attended both the Northern Conservatory of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. On March 10, 1951, she married Jack T. Kenney of Brewer and together they raised four children. Prior to starting a family, Polly worked at AJ Tucker & Son shoe manufacturers. Upon the arrival of their first child, Polly became a full time mother and homemaker. In addition to her devotion to her family, Polly served the church in many ways including choir, missions, and teaching. More recently she led a Bible study for the residents of Solstice. At the time of her passing, Polly was a member of the Crosspoint Church.

Polly's earlier interests included snow and water skiing, swimming, gardening, floral arrangements, cooking and home decorating. Overnight family and friends were welcome guests. The holidays, especially the Christmas celebration of her Savior’s incarnate birth, with the arrival of her adult children and grandchildren were a highlight each year.

She is survived by her son Jack T. Kenney and his wife Cathy of Orrington; three daughters, Kathie G. Towle and her husband Scott, Marilynn R. Becknell and her husband Branan, and Janet M. Capuano of Cranston RI; five dearly loved grandchildren, Christopher Towle, Merritt and Jack Becknell, Nikole and Kaitlin Capuano; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, eight siblings, her much loved husband, and her precious grandson Michael Towle.

A graveside service will be announced in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery, Brewer. Those who wish to remember Polly in a special way are invited to contribute to one of the following: Crosspoint Church, 1476 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401; The Shepherd Godparent Home, PO Box 616, Bangor, ME 04401 or The Christian Civic League of Maine, 70 Sewall St, Augusta, ME 04330.
