Marilyn Winchell

April 11, 1927 — February 16, 2015

BANGOR - Marilyn (Evans) Winchell, born April 11, 1927, died unexpectedly February 16, 2015. She was born in Brownville Junction, Maine, the daughter of the late Doris and Wasky Evans. Marilyn graduated from King’s County Academy and Mack Business College in Kentville, Nova Scotia. Marilyn met her husband Robert J. Winchell and they were married on March 12, 1949.
Together, they owned and operated Winchell Electric, Inc. in Bangor for over fifty years. Marilyn was an active member in various organizations including the Sunshine Club for Children, Girl Scouts of America, the Tuscan Chapter 148 Order of Eastern Star, Flamingos and PTO. Marilyn loved to cook, garden and go for “coffee”. She always dedicated herself to her family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie W. Haghkerdar and Roberta Evans Winchell, and her daughter-in-law and beloved friend, Monica M. Collins, all of Bangor. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bobby Winchell, Ashley Winchell, and Alixandria Winchell, all of Bangor, Stephanie Winchell of Colorado, great-granddaughter, Katerina Winchell of Bangor, and several nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by close friend, Dottie Young of Bangor, and her “coffee” crews at Tim Horton’s and Burger King.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Robert, her son Wallace Winchell, her grand-daughter Arian Haghkerdar, and her brother Ralph Evans.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, immediately following the service Friday. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
