Marilyn Worcester

April 21, 1935 — August 15, 2020

Winterport- Marilyn (Reinhart) Worcester, 85, passed away at her home in Winterport on August 15, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 21, 1935 to Edward and Alice (Merkle) Reinhart in Boston, Massachusetts.

Marilyn graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. She taught elementary art for several years in Connecticut until she married her husband, Dwight C. Worcester, Sr. and moved to Maine.

Marilyn continued to demonstrate her artistic flair across many mediums all her life. This included landscaping her flower gardens with beautiful waves of color, quilting in unusual styles and bright colors, remodeling and redecorating an old house from top to bottom, painstakingly refinishing an antique bureau or turning a grandchild’s drawing into an artistic masterpiece by showcasing it with a dramatic mat and frame.

She will be remembered for her beautiful flower gardens, her delicious cooking, her patience and love of children, her fondness for her Corgis, her love of weeding her gardens or walking around town and her love of reading books from the Winterport Memorial Library. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Dwight C. Worcester Sr.; and her daughter-in-law Barbara (Sawyer) Worcester. She is survived by her sister, Janet Lewis and husband, Donald, of Lillian, Alabama; brother, Laurence Reinhart and wife, Janet, of Marion, Massachusetts; daughter, Meridee Worcester; grandchildren, Kyle Worcester of Winterport, Brittany Worcester of Bangor; son, Dwight C. Worcester, Jr., of Winterport; grandchildren, Megan Vermeulen and husband, Carl, of Dubois, Pennsylvania, Robert Royal and wife, Shelie, of Gladwin, Michigan; son, David A. Worcester, and grandchild Michael Worcester, of Brewer; and several great-grandchildren.

Interment will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery in Winterport. Those who wish to remember Marilyn in a special way may make memorial contributions to the Winterport Memorial Library, 229 Main St., Winterport, ME 04496 or donate online at winterportlibrary.org.
