Rev. Marion L. Hopkins, resident of Hampden for more than 21 years, died peacefully at the break of dawn Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Northern Light Medical Center overlooking the shining Penobscot which he had come to love. He made it to his 95 birthday by amazing fortitude and through a great deal of effort after suffering a stroke and an aneurism tear.
He was born August 1, 1928, in Barnard, IN, west of Indianapolis, IN, and served his working life as an ordained pastor of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and a nursing home administrator for over 18 years in California and Florida.
He is predeceased by his parents Lottie and Raymond Hopkins, younger brother Lloyd Hopkins of Brownsburg, IN. He is survived by wife Carolyn Ann Hopkins of Hampden, son David N. Hopkins of Livermore CA (wife Evonne), daughter, Janet Hopkins Murrell of Clarksville, IN (husband Kerry) and son Jeffrey Wiatt-Hopkins of Pomona, CA, as well as grandchildren Tara Kimes, Chad Kimes of Clarksville, IN and Courtney Kimes of Grand Caymen, Philip Hopkins (partner Christine) of San Francisco, and Erin Soto (husband Tim) of Livermore CA and great grandchildren, Maddie and Skye Soto.
There will be a Celebration of his Life, later on, as well as interment at Pine Grove cemetery.
