Marjorie E. Hoffman

July 6, 1929 — January 22, 2022

BRADFORD - Marjorie E Hoffman passed away in the comfort of her home on Saturday January 22, 2022. Born in New Haven CT on July 6, 1929. Marge received her B.A. in education from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia in 1951. She met her husband, Benjamin F Hoffman, JR, while attending college, later married, and while traveling from Virginia to Vermont to Maine, following Ben’s career, she started and raised their family. Marge taught high school English at North Troy High School and was a member of the Jay Peak Ski Patrol for several years. Marge was an avid gardener from early Spring to late Fall, filing the pantry and freezer from the harvest bounty. She was passionate about fiber arts, teaching others about wool, spinning, and natural dyes, and always had a spinning, knitting, or weaving project going. To receive a handspun, hand knit sweater from Marge was a labor of love and a gift to be cherished. She loved to travel and upon Ben’s retirement, traveled extensively throughout the lower 48, across Canada and finally into Alaska where they made their home for 10 years before returning to Maine to be among their community of friends and church family. Marge leaves behind her son Brett of Newark, VT, her son Jonathan of Bradford, ME, and her daughter Amanda of Fayston, VT and their families. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty- seven years, Ben, and her son David of Northfield, VT. A church ceremony was held among her Bradford community, family, and friends, followed by a private family ceremony. The North Troy H.S. senior class of 1966 dedicated their year book to Marjorie paying tribute to her by quoting Wordsworth, “‘A perfect woman, nobly planned/To warm, to comfort, and to command/And yet a spirit still, and bright/With something of angelic light.’”
