NEWBURGH and GLASTONBURY, Conn. - Mark F. Gondek, 58, died February 7, 2015, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born May 29, 1956, in Hartford, CT, the son of Francis and Janet (Guimont) Gondek. Mark graduated from Glastonbury High School, Class of 1974, and received his Associate Nursing degree from Mohegan Community College, Norwich, CT in 1985. He was a charge nurse at B.M.H.I for many years until his retirement in 1996. Mark was a master cabinet maker, enjoyed fishing on Green Lake, and snowmobiling and hunting at Matagamon Wilderness Campground. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Chumsae; and a nephew, Matthew Bailey. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Megan (Migel) Gondek; his parents, Frank and Janet Gondek of Jefferson; son, Matthew Gondek of Bangor and his girlfriend, Katherine King, and their, son Markus, and Annabelle King; daughter, Kimberly and her husband, Christopher Fox, and their son, Camden, of Newburgh; sister, Sharon and her husband, Myles Bailey, of Jefferson; mother-in-law, Patricia Gibson of Ellsworth and Stuart, FL; and sister-in-law, Julie and her husband, Eric Foehr, and their son, Evan of North Carolina. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden.
