Martha E. Corey, 76, died unexpectedly, peacefully March 4, 2020 at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born in Brewer, June 2, 1943, the daughter of Donald and Gwen (Eaton) Elliott.
Martha attended schools in Corinth and graduated from East Corinth Academy. She subsequently trained and worked into a career of computer data input and eventually office administration. Martha began her career with a private contractor in Brewer, then Denver and ultimately Anchorage, Alaska, retiring from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
At each location she and Peter were actively involved in a local church. Martha and Peter traveled extensively, enjoying learning about the culture and geography of each residence during employment and for pleasure.
Martha and Peter finally retired from Alaska and employment in late 2005 and drove the Trans-Canada Highway back to Maine, visiting family and friends along the way, finally settling in Bangor. They spent their time reconnecting with family and friends in the Bangor area and rediscovering the state of Maine.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Peter, are three sisters; Lovern Stockwell of Bangor, Joy Guisler and spouse Steven of Huntingdon, PA., Cindy Noyes and spouse Warren of Newport; three brothers; Ross Elliott of Wells, Tim Elliott and his wife, Connie of Forrest City, AR, Cal Elliott and his wife, Rowena of Corinth; a brother-in-law, Jerry Hathaway and his wife, Judi of Ocala, FL.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including two special nieces, Abby and Allie Elliott.
Martha was predeceased by her parents and sister, Beth Hathaway.
At Martha’s request there will be a private remembrance service held by the family. Spring interment will be in the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
