Martin Ellis

Dedham, Maine – Martin “Marty” Ellis, 74, lost his battle with cancer on April 28, 2014. He was born July 5, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Bertha (Fischer) and Samuel Ellis. He was a star basketball player at Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, NY and went on to play at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, Class of 1961. He had a long career at NBC in Manhattan and Tarrytown, New York as a Computer Systems Analyst. He retired in 1999 and relocated to New Hampshire and later Maine. Marty was an avid tennis player and sports fan and also had many artistic pursuits including photography, stained glass, and wood carving and painting. He is survived by his devoted wife Marcia of Dedham, Maine, his loving daughters Jessica Ellis of Brookline, Massachusetts and Cara McCarthy and her husband Peter of Milton, Massachusetts and their daughters Chloe and Sophie. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Paula and Norman Lesser of Center Harbor, New Hampshire, and nieces and nephews, who will miss him greatly as we all will. A memorial service will be held 1:00pm Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Second Congregational Church, 607 South Main Street, Brewer, Maine 04412.
