Martin Allen Gonya Jr., 62, of Brewer passed away on October 16, 2024. He was born October 21, 1961, the son of Martin and Emily (Poole) Gonya.
Martin attended both Brewer and Revere high schools, after graduation, he worked as Foreman for the City of Revere Mechanical Department. If it had an engine, Martin could fix it. He was a handyman who could build anything with his hands. On October 24, 1987, he married the love of his life, Regina Silva, they were blessed with three children within their 48 years of marriage.
Martin will be remembered as a simple man, one who told it like it is. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, fishing, camping, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He had a special relationship with his late son, Marty III, they could always be found together.
In addition to his parents, Marty was predeceased by his son, Martin Allen Gonya III; sister, Lori Gonya; and his faithful four-legged companion, Hank. He is survived by his loving wife, Regina Gonya; daughter, Jennifer Silva; son, Christopher M. Gonya and his fiancée, Tori Rivera; many siblings; many nieces and nephews, including his great niece and nephew, Dante and Lily; his dog, Bo; and grand-dogs, Snow, Gus, and Sadie.
A memorial service will be held 1pm, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, Maine.
