Marvell Brainerd

September 6, 1962 — September 19, 2023

Marvell Brainerd passed away Tuesday September 19th 2023 at a Bangor Hospital after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 6th 1962 in Middletown, CT, the daughter of Irving Brainerd Jr. and Marie (Doiron) Brown. She grew up with a large family to include sisters Marie Brainerd, Aprile Fortin, Nancy Brainerd, Elli LeClaire, Melinda Fox, Melissa McGuire, Angie Spaulding brothers Walter Whitman and William Spaulding, who predeceased her in 2014.

Marvell sadly left behind four children Christina Rainville and husband, Normand Rainville, Daryll Morency, Zachary Koncinsky, and Jessica Brainerd-Sockabasin. She raised her children in Eastport, ME where she also found her passion for cooking and customer service at Frank’s Pizza, where her daughter later followed in her footsteps and found the same. She was well known and loved by the community she was dedicated to serve. This blossomed her life-long career in the industry and grew her love for serving others and making bellies happy.

She cherished living in the same household as her daughter, her grandchildren Zabaya, Dessa, and George, granddog, Sammy, and special friend and son in law, Walter Sockabasin. Marvell and Walt spent many morning hours talking about anything and everything over a steaming cup of tea and a strong coffee, sharing an even stronger bond. Everyone’s favorite day in the house was her homemade mac and cheese day. She was proud of her family and will be greatly missed as the loving matriarch of the home. She is also survived by her beautiful granddaughters, Gabriel and Kierra. Marvell’s grandchildren were the light of her life.

A special thank you to the nurses and palliative care on Haskell 3 who showed tremendous compassion and care for all of us. Thank you to lifelong friend Addie Pinney for being there when it mattered the most. Thank you to Patty Levasseur, her newly made friend at Brewer Rehab, for being an angel in disguise.

At this time there are no celebration of life plans. We ask that you continue to keep the family in your thoughts and spread love in honor of Marvell.
