Mary Ann Drake Markoski, 77, of Zephyrhills, Florida and Argyle, passed away peacefully, March 18, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 25, 1937 in Old Town, the daughter of Kenneth and Pearl Young. She is survived by her beloved husband of 6 years, Stanley Markoski; daughter, Catherine Gildart and husband, James; son, Greg Drake and wife, Pam; brothers, Kenneth H. Young and wife, Cora, and Walter Young and wife, Iona; grandchildren, Jason Drake, Christy Simmons, Jessica Drake, Michael Drake, Kayla Lawrence, Alexandria Gildart and Moriah Gildart; as well as several great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by a sister, Rosa Collins Baillargeon, and her first husband, George K. Drake, Jr.
Mary lived a full life. She was employed with the University of Maine in Orono, owned and operated Drakes Foodland in Greatworks, as well as the Bread Basket in Alton and a catering business. Mary displayed her love of helping people through her involvement in various organizations such as Extension Services, Family Reunions, Florida Maine Day and her most recent honor of Grand Princess of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America in Zephyrhills.
Family and friends are welcome to call 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Christ Church of Faith, 2274 Bennoch Road, Old Town, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Old Town.
