BANGOR – Mary Elizabeth (Spinney) Philbrook, 98, went home to be with her Lord December 15, 2019, at a Bangor hospital. She was born February 18, 1921, in Bradley, the daughter of Alfred C. and Jennie B. (Rigby) Spinney.
Mary graduated from Bangor High School. Following high school, she worked various jobs throughout the state. Mary was an active member of God’s community in the Greater Bangor area, regularly attending Sunday worship services, up until just recently. She was an active member of the Bangor, Orono, and Veazie Senior Citizen Clubs. Mary enjoyed going to doll club events, word searches, and plastic canvas crafts.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Philbrook; sisters, Viola Dowling, Annie West, Vera Hart; and a brother, Elden. She is survived by her son, Deane Philbrook and fiancée, Kathleen Nelligan; a grandson, John Philbrook and fiancée, Breanna Schwartz; and a great-granddaughter, Allyson Philbrook.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m., Thursday December 19, 2019, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2019, with Rev. Randy Washington, pastor of the Bradley Family Worship Center, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, immediately following the service, Friday.
