Mary Loring

July 26, 1933 — October 11, 2015

Mary R. (Sawyer) Loring, 82, died on Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Bangor at Ross Manor after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Bucksport, on July 26 1933, the daughter of Allie Leroy and Charlotte Ellen (Brooks) Sawyer. Mary worked as a nurse at the Bangor Mental Health Institute, currently known as Dorothea Dix in the elderly care unit in the 60’s, and 70’s.
Mary is survived by a brother George Sawyer, of Bucksport her sister, Barbara Perry and companion Bob England of Bucksport; five sons, Jeffery Hall, of CT; Kenneth Hall of Eddington; George Joseph Kelly, of West Palm Beach, FL; Timothy Kelly, and his wife Lisa of Bangor; Jamie Kelly and his wife Sandy of Falmouth; three daughters, Rosalie Shepherd and her husband Donald of Pittsfield; Kathleen Tenney and her husband Carl of Bangor; Marnie Wood, of Old Town. Mary was predeceased by her brother, James Sawyer. Mary was one of 4 siblings. She has 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mary was a woman of conviction and compassion who deeply loved God and her family. Her compassion extended beyond her immediate family, which aligned with her mission in life, which was to help bring joy to others. She also loved her many dogs and was best known for her devotion to help any wounded animal she could find. She was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Bangor and the Indian Island Faith Tabernacle. Her love for God and life gave her such a great determination and drive until that moment she decided to take the Master’s hand and enter into her rest. Mary, we will miss you in this life until we meet you again soon.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the Apostolic Lighthouse on 517 Hammond St., Bangor. Interment will be Sunday, October 18, 2015, 11am at Silver Lake Cemetery, Bucksport, ME. Those who wish to remember Mary in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
