Marylyn Grant

March 25, 1953 — August 4, 2020

Marylyn Jean Grant, 67, passed away August 4, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Bucksport. She was born March 25, 1953, in Bangor, the daughter of Wilbur and Jean Marylyn (McKinney) Libby.

Marylyn loved birds, sewing, gardening and squirrels. Her grandchildren Logan, Jaxson and Emma were the most important thing and she loved being outside watching them play. She was a baker for over 20 years at Doug’s Shop n Save where she met her late husband Lester Grant, who passed before her in 2009 of cancer. They also owned Mt. Hope Variety with each other for 10 years. She worked for Miller Drug until she retired when she got cancer in 2014. Marylyn enjoyed weekend yardsaling with her mother Jean and daughter Terri. She was placed in a nursing home for a couple of years due to falling, starting in December of 2017 and she broke her hip there. In March of 2020, she went home again. She could be safe and happier than a nursing home. She passed at home and very comfortable with hospice guidance. Marylyn was a fighter and beat stage 4 cancer in 2014 and was a survivor for 6 years. Dementia and COPD is what ultimately caused her passing. She was the strongest woman we all knew.

The family wants to thank a couple of people for the care they gave her and the loved they showed over the years. Diane Wickett, you were my mom’s absolute favorite. She always looked for you, talked about you, said her day was going to be awful without you. Lisa Liberatore, thank you for always being there for mom and us. Mom never forgot you or your face. Jane Billings, she loved getting birthday cards and always remembered any story with your name.

She is survived by her daughter, Terri Elliott and husband Justin Elliott, from Bucksport; Grandchildren, Logan, Jaxson and Emma Elliott and many other family and friends.
