Mavis G. (Newcomb) Weeks, 97, passed away December 26, 2019 at her beloved home. She was born in Newburgh, April 5, 1922 the daughter of Clyde and Laura (Ingraham) Newcomb. Mavis graduated from Oak Grove Academy, Vassalboro, a prestigious finishing school. She later married and assumed the role of mother and homemaker raising 8 children. Mavis loved her farm animals, cows and pigs. She enjoyed music, dancing and summers at the family summer cottage. Mavis was a true matriarch, relishing the planning and preparation of all holiday dinners for the entire family at the farm. She meticulously prepared birthday and Christmas gifts for each and every member of the family including all generations. She was predeceased by her first husband, Woodrow “Woody” Meservey and her second husband, Alan Weeks and four children, Woodrow “Skippy” Meservey, Robert Meservey, Geraldine Cichocki and Arnold Weeks. Surviving are three children, Dennis Weeks and his wife, Bonnie, Ronald Meservey and his wife, Patricia and Gary Meservey and his wife, Pam; grandchildren including a special grandson, William Cichocki and his wife, Carla, Travis Weeks and his wife Dorinda, Troy Weeks and his wife, Kimberly, Matt and Tyler Weeks, Gary, Lori, Ronald, Robert, Christina, Richard, Buddy and Patti Sue; many great grandchildren. Special thanks to Dennis, Tyler and Matt Weeks for their care of Mavis and the farm and to Delma Dunton for her care and compassion for Mavis and the family. A funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday January 2, 2020 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Spring interment will be in the Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
