HAMPDEN - Maxine E. Ouellette, 81, died July 11, 2024, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by family. Maxine battled cancer twice and this last battle was too much to endure. She was born in Bangor August 29, 1942, the daughter of Lewis and Inez (Rankin) Laskey.
Maxine graduated from Hampden Academy, Class of 1962. Later in life, she furthered her education at Beal College. She worked for over 20 years as a supervisor at Evans Shoe and then became a CNA, working for Maine Veterans’ Home until her retirement. She was a devoted mother and her pride and joy in life was being a “GiGi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maxine enjoyed crafting with cross stitching and most recently her new passion was diamond art. She was an avid book reader, enjoying many types of novels.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her brother, Robert Laskey and her beloved daughter, Renee (Ouellette) Henneberry. Surviving, is her sister, Donna Merchant and her husband, Clarence; brother, Edward Laskey; daughter, Karen (Ouellette) Lee and her husband, Linden; grandchildren, Brittany Lynch, Bethany Henneberry, Lauren Loiselle and her husband, Brian, Ryan Henneberry, and Austen Lee and his wife, Jordyn; great-grandchildren, Autumn Lynch, Hailey Lynch, Brogan Hunter, Boston Loiselle, and one new Lee grandchild to come soon, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, immediately followed by the Rite of Committal in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
