Melville Asher Gould III, went home to be with the Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on October 24, 2015. He was born on February 19th 1954 in Hartford, CT, and last resided in Greenfield, ME.
Mel graduated from Stearns High School in Millinocket in the class of 1972. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Maine, he began a long career in Law Enforcement, beginning in Millinocket as the youngest policeman to ever be hired in the town of Millinocket. He eventually became a deputy sheriff with the Aroostook Country Sheriff s Dept., and became a "Qualified Diving Instructor", both training personnel and assisting in Search and Rescue cases.
At his last place of residence in Greenfield, Mel met Pastor and Mrs. John Cutler of the Greenfield Baptist Church, where Mel began a pivotal change in his life. Under their mentorship, he started the process of growing spiritually, and accepted Jesus as the Lord and Savior. Mel became actively involved in the church and the community, taking literally the teachings of Jesus.
Mel is survived by his mother; Wilda M. Gould, his father; Melville Asher Gould Jr and wife Ruth, two sons; Melville "Asher" Gould IV and wife Andrea, Justin Gould and his wife Loren, brothers; Steven Gould and wife Dianne, William Gould and his wife Jennifer, Rob Gould and his wife Donna, sister; Nicole Mitchell and husband Keith, grandchildren; Samantha, Jacob, Nola; many Aunts Uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm on the 04th of November at the Greenfield Baptist Church, Greenfield Road, Greenfield, with Pastor John Cutler, presiding. A reception at the church will follow the service. Interment will be at Greenfield Cemetery.
