Merritt Hayden

December 29, 1955 — May 13, 2023

Merritt “Rocky” Hayden, Jr. died May 13, 2023. He was born in Brewer December 29, 1955. He joined our Lord on this sad day, May 13, 2023.

Rocky was the son of Carolyn and Merritt Hayden, Sr.

He was raised by his grandparents. And spoke highly of them. He kept their memories alive by sharing fascinating stories and gave them full credit for the man he became. They taught him responsibility, generosity, kindness, love and how to be a non - judgmental man.

In high school he enjoyed playing football and coached a girls team. He worked for Hood at a young age; then went on to work for Sure Winner twenty years. At the end of his career, he was warehouse supervisor at Coastal Med Tech. He retired from there when his health declined.

His hobbies included motorcycling with his good friend, Doug and his father-in-law, Luc. Rocky enjoyed woodcarving and spent numerous hours enjoying his passion. He enjoyed swimming, camping, fishing and loved it when the grandkids tagged along. Rocky enjoyed holidays with them and remained an inspiring grandfather throughout the years.

He held a special bond with his grandson, Nick and granddaughter, Destiny.

Halloween was the most enjoyable holiday for him. Rocky spent numerous days decorating and figuring ways to enhance the scenery. He loved including the grandkids and dressing up for the jovial celebration.

His love for animals was undeniable and he will be missed by his little girl, Chloe. Rocky was a special man who wore his heart on his sleeve, always willing to help his fellow man. His love was unconditional his devotion held no bounds. Rocky was a loving compassionate husband, father and grandfather. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. The memories we built survive and love remains.

Rocky was a man of great faith and always believed St. Michael was his guardian angel and protector. May he guide you now on this final journey.

Rocky was predeceased by his first wife, Patrice, his brother, Tim and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Violette-Hayden; his children, Cari, Lise, Angel and Duke; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
