Michael Crane

July 18, 1952 — April 23, 2014

Michael “Mike” A. Crane, 61, died peacefully at his residence on April 23, 2014. He was born July 18, 1953 in Bangor, the son of John W. Crane and Ann (Golden) Crane.

Mike graduated from Washington Academy of East Machias, in 1971. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Wurtsmith Air force Base in Oscoda, Michigan. Mike then moved back to Bangor and began working at Bangor International Airport in the Airfield Maintenance Department. Mike spent several years living in Venice, Florida. While in Venice he worked for Hill and Hill Plumbing and was also a member and President of the local Lions Club. Mike moved back to Bangor and resumed working for BIA. It was not all work for Mike. He spent many, many weekends hunting and fishing up at Caucomgomoc Lake with good friends Larry Philbrick, Brent Johnson, John Crane and John Crane, Jr. He also made many friends and memories from there and would enjoy telling stories of their times together. If Mike wasn’t in the woods up north he could be found in Whiting Maine with cousin Steven Geel reliving the good ol' days of their childhood together. Mike was also a proud member of the Penobscot Conservation Club in Brewer. Mike's pride and joy in life was his daughter, Stephanie. He enjoyed attending all of the Bangor High School cheerleading competitions proudly introducing himself as “Coaches Dad”. They had recently been traveling together and was looking forward to their next adventure. They were not sure where it was going to be yet, but Mike knew he wanted to travel overseas.

Mike was predeceased by his grandmother Ina Smith and uncle Bill of Whiting who were very special to him and grandparents Francis and Avis Golden of Bangor, aunt Frances Golden and uncle Hugh Golden. In addition to his parents he is survived by his daughter Stephanie Crane of Glenburn; brother, John Crane and wife Sue of Monroe, brother, Jimmy Crane of Monroe, sister Carol Wiswell and her husband Peter of Orrington, brother Ricky Crane of Bangor and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and of course his close friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3 PM, Saturday, May 10, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hammond Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Penobscot Conservation Club, 570 North Main St., Brewer, following the service.
