Mildred Keddrel

November 8, 1922 — April 6, 2016

Bangor – Mildred D. Keddrel, wife of Arlie W. Keddrel, died Wednesday April 6, 2016 at a local hospital. She was born November 8, 1922, in Hersey, the daughter of Claude D. and Alice (Davis) Desmond.

Mildred graduated from Patten Academy, class of 1940, and received a B.S. degree in Home Economics from the University of Maine, class of 1944. After teaching Home Economics for 1 year at Howland High School, she married Arlie W. Keddrel in September 1945 upon his return from then South Pacific and discharge from the Marine Corps. Following his discharge they resided in California for a year before returning to Maine. Mildred began teaching Home Economics at Fifth St. Junior High School (now James F. Doughty) in 1947, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of Glad Tidings Church for over 60 years and taught Sunday School for 25 years. Mildred enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. They were a never ending source of enjoyment to her for many years. She and her husband enjoyed touring the coast of Maine, the Maritime Provinces, especially Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia; and the many visits to the White Mountains.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was predeceased by a sister, Lena F. Haney; and a niece, Gloria Haney Petley. She is survived by her beloved husband, Arlie; nephew, Hoyt A. Haney and wife, Emily of Concord, NH; 3 very special grand nieces, Lynne A. Haney, Laurie (Haney) Rosen, and Lisa (Haney) Metzger and husband Scott; and the Metzger children, Lauren, Emily, and Ryan, all of Hopkinton, NH. She is also survived by several cousins.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 at Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, Bangor where friends and relatives are welcome to call from 2 p.m. until time of the service, with Rev. Ron Morris, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Patten Cemetery later in the spring.
