Molly Anne Dunbar 4/27/1963 - 3/1/2023
Molly Anne Dunbar made peace with her Lord and went into the arms of Jesus at home with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of Frank and Jackie Dunbar, lifelong residents of Bucksport.
Molly graduated from Bucksport High School in 1980 one year early, and went into the US Army later that year at the age of 17. She excelled and had many awards and accommodations. She attained the rank of Sergeant, and flew with the 112th helicopter unit as a medic for 10 years. Interestingly, her son, Tyler, has done search and rescue as a ParaRescue for 13 years in the USAF. Her daughter, Torree, is also certified in helicopter rescue and a mechanic with the US Coast Guard for 12 years.
Molly was involved in the band and sports at BHS, and kept active in fitness with running and bodybuilding competitions. She was an accomplished gardener, seamstress, cook, and outdoor enthusiast. She loved hunting and fishing with her parents. After retiring from the Army, she held a number of jobs in the medical field with an excellent work ethic. When she moved back to Maine, she was a receptionist in her aunt’s hair salon and worked at several Curves fitness salons. She also held a Maine barber’s license like her father and sister. Her last job was as a boat inspector for invasive plants at Alamoosook Lake.
She loved training dogs with her mother. Her final dog was a rescue named Twinkie that was Molly’s loyal companion for 10 years. She trained Twinkie as a Salute to Service for veterans, and the dog wore her vest proudly when she “went to work.” Their ashes are now together. Molly had a patriotic spirit and a special love for veterans and her country.
Molly is survived by her mother, Jackie Dunbar; her devoted sister, Diana Roberts and husband, Kyle; her children Tyler Albee and wife, Tasha, and baby, Isla of Alaska; daughter, Torree (Albee) Teeter and husband, Jake, of North Carolina. She loved them very much and was proud of their accomplishments. She is also survived by her aunt, Becky McGlauflin, and husband, Philip; nephew David Leeman and wife, Christy and children, Alexis, Jade and Mason; niece, Kathleen Leeman, and partner, Rodney, and daughter, Bella; nephew Keith Roberts and partner, Tasha; aunt Donna Hoffman; special friends Wally and Rue Babcock; lifelong friend, Dr. Carl Goggins; and many other special cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Dunbar.
Molly will be remembered for her caring personality, and always had a thoughtful card, prayer or a visit to brighten someone’s day. A special thank-you to Dr. Joe Harkins and the gastro specialists at Northern Light EMMC who cared for her during her battle with liver disease. A special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and their excellent care and support during her last days. Molly’s favorite flower was the sunflower, so if you plant some this summer, it will remind us of her sunny personality.
A graveside service is to be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the scholarship fund in Molly’s name to the girls in recovery at Blessed Hope residential program at Calvary Chapel, 154 River Road, Orrington, ME 04474.
