Nancy Joyce Doughty, 84, passed away peacefully, June 15, 2014 at her home in Hermon, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 3, 1930 in Bangor, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Hutchings) Mooney.
Nancy graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1948. Shortly after, she married Percy Doughty, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Nancy was a homemaker who loved to cook and read. She loved spending time with her family, shopping, bird-watching and taking many trips together. She was an active member of the Hermon PTA and enjoyed watching the NBA- especially when the Celtics played.
Nancy was a loving mother to her three sons and their wives. One of her greatest joys was being Nana to her 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Percy; her sons, Wayne Doughty and his wife, Beth of Hermon, Bruce Doughty and his wife Roberta of Hermon, Jeffrey Doughty, Sr. and his wife, Carole of Sebring, FL; grandchildren, Shayne Doughty and his wife, Renea, Jeffrey Doughty and his wife, Lucy, Melissa Doughty and her fiancé, Craig, Liza Muth and her husband, Jeremy, Bruce Patrick Doughty and his wife, Geneviere, Nancy Doughty-Stitham and her husband, Jon; 15 great grandchildren; her brother, James Mooney of Bangor; three sisters-in-law Carmen Clark, Donna Honey and Shirley Harrison; several nieces and nephews; and two very special cousins, Gloria Smith and Dorothy Sibley. Nancy was predeceased by her parents.
Graveside committal services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor with Pastor Gretchen Casey officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments following the committal at the Doughty Home, 221 New Boston Road, Hermon.
