Nancy Walker Driscoll, 87, died peacefully in the early morning hours of March 2, 2016 in Bangor. She was born in Portsmouth, N.H., May 14, 1928, the daughter of Marianna (Scammon) Walker and Charles Howard Walker. Nancy graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1946, Nasson College in 1948, and Wheelock College in 1952. She was married to the late Col. Timothy James Driscoll, Jr., M.D., on August 29, 1953 in Portsmouth, N.H.
After rearing their children in Portsmouth, Nancy and Tim spent several years with the US Air Force before retiring and enjoying the warm climate, family and friends, and playing golf in Citrus Hills, Hernando, Florida for more than 20 years. Nancy moved to Bangor, Maine in 2010, and lived at Winterberry Heights.
Throughout her life, Nancy had many friends across the country and cared deeply about her lifelong friendships. She loved family gatherings and cooked for family, friends, and neighbors. She was a thoughtful hostess who welcomed all into her home. Nancy also enjoyed church activities, sports, choral music, card groups, and avidly supporting her children's interests. She will be remembered as a most loving mother and grandmother, for her kindness to others.
Nancy is predeceased by her parents; sister, Ruth Hainsworth and husband, John; sister, Jane Swallow and husband, Lawrence; twin sister, Elizabeth Staples; her brother, Charles Edward Walker.
She is survived by her children, Ellen Hunter and her husband, Alan; Timothy Driscoll and his wife, MaryAnn; Stephen J. Driscoll; William Driscoll and his wife, Shellie; her grandchildren, Kristen Hunter, Matthew Hunter, Stephen T. Driscoll, Daniel Driscoll, Samuel Driscoll; her sister-in-law, Frances Kazura and her husband, Joseph; her brother-in-law, David Staples; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 am, Friday, March 18, 2016, at the North Church of Portsmouth, UCC, 355 Spinney Rd., Portsmouth, N.H. 03801 Final interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
