Nancy Ann (Brooker) Hasey, 72, passed away July 19th, 2023, after a long-fought battle with an autoimmune disease. She was born October 5th, 1950, the daughter of Arnold (Bully) and Carline (Dolly) (Peters) Brooker.
Nancy grew up in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School in 1968. She went on to attend Beal College later in life. She married Robert (Bob) Hasey, Jr. on July 1st, 1974 and they were married for 49 years. They had two children, David (Dave) Hasey and Heather Hasey. Nancy worked for the Town of Hermon for 31 years driving a school bus. She loved her job and enjoyed driving the children to and from school, working there long enough that she sometimes carried multiple generations from the same families on her bus. She had a lasting impact on many of the kids who rode her bus over the years. Nancy was a wonderful gardener. She had a green thumb to prove it. Gardening was a true passion of Nancy’s and this is something that she passed on to her daughter. They spent many hours working in their flower and vegetable gardens together. She took great pride in how her yard looked. She enjoyed mowing the grass and keeping her yard pristine. She also enjoyed going for motorcycle rides with Bob on their Harley Davidson. She was a big animal lover, owning many pets over the years. She especially loved her cats and dogs. She enjoyed bird watching, and especially loved seeing the cardinals in her yard. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many. She was known to always put the needs of others before her own. She was a giver and always selfless.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Hasey; her son Dave Hasey and his wife Casey, and their daughter Caelyn, of Hampton, VA; her daughter Heather Hasey and her son, Dylan, of Hermon; many step-children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; her brothers Harry, Wayne, Dan, and John Brooker; special friends Barbara Decesere-Hurd and Donna Bunce; special sister in-law, Lori Murphy; many more nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her granddaughter, Ciera Radel.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Cancer Care Center of Maine and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute for the great care they provided to Nancy throughout her battle with this disease.
The family invites relatives and friends to share in a celebration of her life with conversation and refreshments from 1 to 3pm on Sunday July 30th, 2023, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
