Nancy Lahaye

September 2, 1922 — May 21, 2015

BANGOR – Nancy Pennypacker LaHaye, 92, passed away peacefully at Ross Manor with family by her side, May 21, 2015. She was born September 2, 1922, in Bangor, the daughter of John O. and Frances (Lambert) Pennypacker.

She grew up in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1940. Nancy helped organize many of her high school class reunions and looked forward to socializing with her classmates. Nancy was employed for 40 years as an office secretary at Dole Electric Co. and Twin City Electric. She loved to cook, enjoyed candle pin bowling, playing cards, the Red Sox, and going to Hammond St. Senior Center. During her teenage years she liked to ice skate with her friends on the Kenduskeag Stream in Bangor. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas and spending them with her family. She was a three time cancer survivor and faced each challenge with courage and a positive attitude. Nancy had great faith in God and attended church until her health prevented her. Nancy looked forward to the many weekend visits she received from her granddaughter Heather Robbins and great granddaughter Brianna Robbins, while a resident of Ross Manor. There is no doubt Heaven has a place for this special lady.

Nancy is survived by her twin sons, Phillip Jordan and his wife, Julie, and Robert Jordan and his wife, Melissa; daughter, Ann Fessenden and her husband, Dave; grandchildren, Heather Robbins, Phillip Jordan Jr., Leah Beauchamp, and Caroline McHugh; great grandchildren, Brandon Ashe Robbins, Brianna Robbins, Jaidyn Jordan, and Amber Hustus; brother, Dean Pennypacker; special friends Adelma Harriman and Elaine Katen who was like a daughter to Nancy. She was predeceased by her parents, and sister-in-law, Frances Pennypacker.

A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor, with the Rev. Arlene Tully, officiating, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Bangor, and family and friends may call for 11 a.m., until the time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Those who wish to remember Nancy in a special way may make gifts in her memory to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402-1638.
