HAMPDEN- Natalie Wass, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 29, 2024. She was born October 22, 1933, in Harrington, Maine, the daughter of Henry O. and Rose (Dolan) Nichols.
Natalie was predeceased by her husband, Robert, of 67 years. She was also predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Chester, Henry and Robert; three sisters, Madeline, Beatrice and Gwen.
She is survived by her son, Kerry Wass and wife, Connie, of Newburgh; daughter, Elaine Huntley and husband, Steve, of Hampden and her son, Reg Wass and wife, Cyndi, of Hampden. She was a grandmother to Tanya Dunton, and husband, Joe, of Hermon, Renee Light and husband, Jason, of Winterport, Jon Hutchins and wife, Kate, of Orrington, Justin Huntley and wife, Jackie, of North Yarmouth, Nicki LeBarnes of Hampden, Jason Huntley of Holden, Kayla Wass of Nashville, Tenn, and Branden Wass of Hampden.
Natalie was a great grandmother to Riley Dunton and Cameron Dunton of Hermon, Silas Light and Avery Light of Winterport, and Aubree LeBarnes of Hampden. She also had many special nieces and nephews.
Natalie loved traveling with her family, she put on memorable holiday parties for her grandchildren and many Sunday afternoons was dedicated to her family gathering for a Sunday dinner.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Winterberry Heights and the staff at Gentiva for the excellent care she received and the care and kindness shown towards the family.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Friends are welcome to call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. All are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor immediately following the service. Spring interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
