BANGOR-Nedra (Nash) MacKinnon, 79, passed away at her home February 23, 2016. She was born May 13, 1936 in Bangor to Laura E. (Maguire) Nash and George D. Nash, the youngest of four children. Nedra was predeceased by her oldest brother, George D. Nash, Jr. and her sisters, Jessie J. (Nash) Puckett and Edith E. (Nash) Moore. She and her late husband Paul were not blessed with any children of their own. Her nine nieces and nephew meant the world to her; children of their own could not have been any more cherished, as well as the great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Nedra attended schools in Bangor. After graduating from Farmington State Teachers College, now known as University of Maine at Farmington. Nedra taught grade four in Augusta, Waterville and Orono. In the mid-sixties, she drove to Alabama to visit her sister, Edith. Staying longer than expected, she called Orono to let them know they would need to replace her with someone in her position. On the way back to Maine she stopped in Danvers, MA to visit a dear friend and her husband. They introduced her to their friend, Paul MacKinnon. They dated for two years and married on October of 1968. After Marrying Paul MacKinnon, the love of her life, they moved to Lynn, MA where they lived for eight years. When her father died, they moved back to Bangor to be nearby as her mother%u2019s health was failing. They so enjoyed their wonderful friends and neighbors in the Bangor area. It always bothered her that the powers that be saw fit to tear down the old city hall and railroad station. Nedra retired after over 24 years of working for what is now Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the Bangor General Assistance Office. She just loved both positions and all the great people she met.
